Creating a Passcode

You can protect your information by setting up a passcode. Please note that the app cannot recover a forgotten passcode. We suggest that after creating your passcode you email it to yourself for safekeeping. If you forget your passcode and have not emailed it to yourself, you will have to re-create your Recovery Plan.

Information you save under your passcode cannot be seen by others. However, you should logout at the end of your session.

User data and information is not saved by the VA. My Recovery Plan uses a method called “local storage” to store and retrieve data and information saved by the user when using a passcode. Unlike with cookies, other websites that you use cannot access information saved through local storage. Information saved through local storage is securely stored within the user’s browser and is only accessible to this single site. Also, when you use a passcode, only the user with the passcode will have access to that data.

Unfortunately, public or work-related systems are less private than personal systems and may have different settings. In this case, you may not want to save your information even using a passcode. In all cases, deleting your browser history or cache will remove all saved data. You can also select the “Delete All Data” button found in the Tools section at any point to completely remove any data.

You can also create your Recovery Plan without having to save it. You will be able to print it or email it to yourself if you do not want to save it in your local storage.

Passcodes can be any combination of numbers and letters. Do not share your passcode with anyone else.

Email Your Passcode
